Personal statement

Yao Aijun, Ph.D. andNationalRegistered Civil Engineer (Geotechnical), is a professor and Doctoral Supervisor in the College of Architecture and Civil Engineering in Beijing University of Technology. His research and teaching interests mainly focus on geotechnical engineering and geo-mechanics. He is the author of over 130 papers and 2 books as well asthe associate editor of four textbooks and key editor of another. Additionally, Dr. Yao owns 5 utility model patents and 16national inventionpatents. He has been in charge of over 50 research and industrial projects, among which 2 were sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Dr. Yao has received the Second-Class State Science and Technology Progress Awards for 2 times, and 6 times Provincial/Ministry Level Science and Technology Progress Awards, among which two are the First Class; one the Second Class; and three the Third Class. He also won 6 awards from other professional societies.
