Personal statement

Li Xiaojun, professor and doctoral supervisor. After he got a B.S. in 1984 from the Department of Civil Engineering, Hunan University in China, Li went to Institute of Engineering Mechanics (IEM), CEA, China to study for an S.M. (1987) and Ph.D. (1993)in Earthquake Engineering. He thenworked at the Institute of Geophysics, CEA (1993-2004, 2010-2018) and Institute of Engineering Mechanics, CEA (2004-2010) as a post-doctor(1993-1995), a full professor (1996-2018)and also a Deputy Director (2004-2016). He worked at Cardiff Institute, and Wales University in U.K. as a visiting professor from 1997-1998.

His research covers a wide field, including seismology, disaster prevention and mitigation.He has published more than 400 papers and 5 books, and edited 5 national and industry technical standards and regulations. He won more than 10 National and Ministerial Scientific and Technological Progress Awards.
