Personal Statement

Yang Hong, Ph.D holder, is the director of Beijing Key Laboratory of Water Quality Science and Water Environment Recovery.
Professor Yang graduated from Northeast Normal University with  bacherlor of science in 1986. And then, he got his master’s degree in Harbin Institute of Technology, majoring municipal engineering. In Beijing University of Technology, he was granted PhD degree in environment engineering.
From 1986, Yang worked in China Northeast Municipal Engineering Design and Research lnstitutes (CNMEDR), focusing on the Water Supply and Drainage System Design and Wastewater Biological Treatment. In 2000, he was appointed as a professorate senior engineer, as well as, the president of the sub-institute in CNMEDR. During the 16 years working in the CNMEDR, Yang had participated and taken charge of several National ‘Eighth Five-Year Plan’, ‘Ninth Five-Year Plan’ and provincial and ministerial level scientific projects. In addition, he has presided more than 26 municipal engineering programs and got the first place and second place in different high level competitions, for instance, he got the 2nd place in the Reward of National Science and Technology Progress.

After 2002, as a professor and PhD supervisor, Yang is working at the College  of Architecture and Civil Engineering in Beijing University of Technology. He has instructed ‘Wastewater Treatment’, ‘The materials of Water Supply and Drainage System’ for undergraduates; ‘Biochemistry’; ’Water Treatment of Biological’; ’Microbiology’ for graduates; and ‘Advanced Microbiology’; ‘Recovery principles and techniques of water environment’ for PhD candidates. He has engaged in more than 16 national research projects which include ‘The Projects of National 863 Plan’; ‘The Projects of National Natural Science Foundation’; ‘The Projects of Provincial Key Subjects’; ‘The Key Projects of Beijing Science and Technology Commission’; ‘The Projects Products and Application Research’ and so on.
Now, he is focusing on the Technology of Water Environment Recovery and Biotechnological Theory in Sewage Treatment. Further more, the ongoing 6 research projects include: ‘The Projects of National 863 Plan’; ‘The Projects of National Natural Science Foundation’; ‘The Projects Production and Application Research’ and so on. These projects are concerning about Water Recovery System Technology; Biological removal Iron And Manganese from Groundwater. Yang’s scientific research achievements have covered several scientific areas. Up to now, Yang has published over 70 academic papers, and 23 of them were selected to SCI; EI; ISTP those kind of high level scientific periodicals.
