On October 12th, the 2021 China Steel Structure Conference and the "China Steel Structure Association 2021 Science and Technology Award" awarding ceremony were held in Shanghai. The Project initiated by BJUT, the "Innovation and Engineering Application of Prestressed Steel StructuralSystem and Key Technologies" won the highest Science and Technology Award by the China Steel Construction Society (CSCS). The project was completed by Prof. Zhang Ailin, Pro. fessor Liu Xuechun, Prof. Jiang Ziqin and Dr. Chen Xuesen. Professor Liu Xuechun also won the "2021 Outstanding Talent Award by the CSCS.

The project is funded by the National Science and Technology Project, the Natural Science Foundation and other projects, focusing on the basic research of prestressed steel structural system and key technology innovation. At the same time, it is closely integrated with industry, university, research and application to serve the major needs of prestressed steel structure for national development strategic tasks. The project, which has obtained 37 invention patents at home and abroad and published 38 papers, focuses on relevant basic research and key technology innovation. These findings have been applied in over 160 engineering projects, providing effective solutions for some key scientific problems, including: the ultra-long-span enclosed industrial stockyard for the national air pollution control; ultra-high-prestress prefabricated wind turbine tower for the green energy development; and the seismic performance improvements of prefabricated multi-story or high-rise prestressed steel structures for the building industrialization, and mass domestic production of large-diameter Galfan steel strand.

As the main contributor, Professor Liu Xuechun won one second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award and two special prizes of CSCS and Technology Award. He has published more than 130 academic papers with over 50 SCI/EI-indexed papers, and obtained more than 90 authorized invention patents.
