On December 21, 2021, the signing ceremony of the Framework Agreement of Industry-University-Research Cooperation between Beijing University of Technology (BJUT) and Beijing Building Construction Research Institute (BBCRI) was held at BBCRI. Professor Du Xiuli, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Vice President of BJUT, and Professor Xu Chengshun, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil and Transportation Engineering (FACTE), were invited to attend the signing ceremony. Chang Yongchun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of Beijing Construction Engineering Group, Zhang Ran, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of BBCRI, Liu Ke, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of BBCRI, attended the signing ceremony, which was hosted by Qian Yingxin, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee of BBCRI.

Zhang Ran, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of BBCRI, delivered an opening speech, in which he emphasized that as a company for scientific research, BBCRI aims to follow the principle of "Technological Innovation and Harmonious Development" and has always attaching great importance to technological innovation and applications of research findings. BBCRI has accumulated abundant research findings in the fields of large-span space structures, reinforcement and renovation for existing buildings, new functional materials, and the construction of prefabricated concrete building structures. It is hoped that both sides leverage the framework agreement of industry-university-research cooperation to further deepen cooperation and exchange in research projects, talent training and transformation of research findings based on the previous cooperation, and explore more possibilities of university-business cooperation.

On behalf of BJUT, academician Du Xiuli expressed his gratitude for the trust and support BBCRI has given to BJUT and FACTE. He also gave an overview of the university in terms of its history, mission, discipline development, faculty and students, scientific and technological endeavors, and social services. Academician Du pointed out that at the early stage of the 14th Five-Year Plan, it is hoped that BJUT can fully leverage its geographical advantages for extensive integration with the development of the capital city; BJUT and BBCRI should give play to their respective advantages, expand the field of scientific and technological cooperation, innovate technological cooperation mechanisms, strive to achieve influential research findings, and work together to cultivate more outstanding and professional talents.

In the presence of leaders from both sides, Dean Xu Chengshun of FACTE and General Manager Liu Ke of BBCRI signed the Framework Agreement on Industry-University-Research Cooperation between BJUT and BBCRI on behalf of each side. Deputy Dean Lu Dechun of FACTE and Deputy General Manager Li Chenguang of BBCRI signed the Letter of Intent for Joint R&D Cooperation between BJUT and BBCRI. Academician Du Xiuli and Secretary Zhang Ran unveiled the nameplates of "Talent Training Base" and "Off-campus Internship Base" jointly built by BJUT and BBCRI.

Chang Yongchun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of Beijing Construction Engineering Group, concluded that the in-depth cooperation between the two sides is of great significance in helping the transformation and upgrading of the Group, promoting the integration between disciplines and the industrial chain, and improving the scientific and technological innovation system. He hoped that the strategic cooperation would give full play to the strength of the capital-based university and the municipal research institute, and that both sides support each other, complement each other's advantages, share resources, and bear fruitful results in research and innovation, talent training and major projects. Chang Yongchun also expressed his hope that BJUT and BBCRI can join hands to promote technological innovation, the transformation and application of research findings, high-quality talent training, and innovation-led development.

The year of 2021 is the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan. In the midst of common challenges and opportunities, BJUT and BBCRI should further focus on the key demands, actively explore and extend the fields of cooperation, improve the industry-university-research cooperation liaison, promote the transformation and implementation of collaborative projects, and create a new chapter for university-business cooperation.
