The winners list of the 2022 Huaxia Construction Science and Technology Award was unveiled. The research project Key Technologies and Applications of Ultra-Low-Energy Buildings in Extremely Humid Climate Zones led by Academician Liu Jiaping from FACTE won the Grand Prize. BJUT served as a secondary co-author. Teachers from FACTE: Xie Jingchao, Zhang Xiaojing, Xue Peng, as well as two Ph.D. candidates: Xu Xin and Zheng Zhimiao participated in the project.

The research project Key Technologies and Applications of Ultra-Low-Energy Buildings in Extremely Humid Climate Zones conducted innovative research on the following three fronts: indoor and outdoor design parameters adaptive to the extreme environment and resource endowment on the sea islands; thermal design methods for ultra-low-energy buildings; and solar air conditioning system and its key technologies. The original research findings set a good example for erecting new buildings on the sea islands. More than 20,000 square meters of buildings were built to improve the living conditions of residents. These construction projects laid a strong theoretical and technological foundation for building more ultra-low-energy buildings in Chinas extremely humid areas.

Huaxia Construction Science and Technology Award was established with the support of private finance to reward citizens and organizations with outstanding contributions to the construction sector, facilitate real-world applications of research outputs, and improve the overall technological capability in the housing and urban-rural development industry. A total of 200 projects won the Huaxia Award in 2022: 1 project won the Grand Prize, 29 projects won the First Prize, 60 projects won the Second Prize, and 110 projects won the Third Prize.
