1. Introduction to the Institute

1.1 Overview

The Institute of Traffic Information and Control (hereinafter referred to as the Institute) was established in 2020. Its predecessor is the Department of intelligent transportation, College of Metropolitan Transportation, Beijing University of technology. At present, the Institute has one undergraduate major in traffic equipment and control engineering, which is an ad hoc major to meet the urgent needs of the advanced development of transportation equipments under the background of urbanization in China.

1.2 Academic Staffs

At present, the Institute has 16 full-time academic staffs, including 3 full-time professors (and doctoral tutors), 4 associate professors and 9 lecturers. Among them, 14 have overseas learning experience (accounting for 87.5%), with qualified teaching team and reasonable structure.

1.3 Professional Affiliations

A number of academic staffs serve as the chairman, the secretary-general, or the committee members in Beijing Society of Traffic Engineering, Beijing Technical Committee of traffic standardization and the Sharing Sector, China Communications and Transportation Association. Also, many staffs work deputy editor in chief or editorial board member in academic journals such as China highway journal, Journal of Beijing University of technology, traffic information and safety, urban traffic and traffic engineering.

1.4 Teaching Excellence

In response to the national major engineering strategies such as China's strength in transportation and new infrastructure construction, the Institute has established a "government-industry-institution research application" cooperation mechanism and innovative talent training mode. We have established extensive scientific research and teaching cooperation with many famous oversea universities and academic institutions, and students' international competitiveness and innovation consciousness have been continuously improved. The students won the first prize of the National University Students' Transportation Science and Technology Competition, the first prize of Beijing University Students' Transportation Science and Technology Competition, the silver medal of the Challenge Cup Capital University Students' Entrepreneurship Plan Competition and other honorary titles.

3. Research achievements

The Institute adheres to the university motto of "never give-up, and always innovating", closely focuses on serving the major traffic information and control strategic needs of the country and Beijing Tianjin Hebei region, focuses on the international frontier of discipline development, and has accumulated rich research experience and achievements. In the field of traffic safety, intelligent transportation, driving behavior, vehicle-infrastructure coordination, automatic driving and so on, it has formed the characteristic and advantage research direction. In recent years, more than 10 national projects, such as national key R & D projects, National Natural Science Foundation of China and more than 20 provincial and ministerial projects, were undertaken and more than 10 provincial and ministerial awards were won. Many technical standards, more than 100 SCI indexed papers and 5 books were published. It has provided significant technical and economic benefits for Beijing.
